Jotted Field Note: Process Pockets on the Lou Box Dress

Hand sewing these patch pockets was a choice.

When I started this project, I wanted a wearable dress. I wanted it to be the best of my ability so that it wouldn’t look like a terrible first project.

That’s why I chose to hand sew the pockets. I thought I wouldn’t be able to top-stitch them well. Plus I wanted to learn hand sewing.

Now I just want to finish it. The impatience I’m feeling is not helpful to the process. I just want the product!

I’ve decided to compromise. I’m going to finish sewing the pocket on with just one row of backstitching. (I had been doing two rows.) then I will finish sewing the dress and come back to hand stitching the second row when the dress is sewn. If I even still want to do it.

Progress overall is slow in my projects; my Little is little and having sleep troubles. We will figure it out eventually. In the meantime, I’m trying to appreciate progress no matter how small.
